Tamim noted that while the Kurdistan Region reports producing 265,000 barrels per day, a report by US-based consultancy McKinsey, prepared in cooperation with the KRG, estimates production at 425,000–455,000 barrels daily. Other reports reviewed by OPEC reportedly put the figure at 600,000–650,000 barrels.

He added that al-Zaidi has requested joint technical committees from Baghdad and Erbil to monitor oil production and verify daily figures, stressing that accurate reporting is essential.

Tamim also emphasized that Baghdad has no intention of targeting the Kurdistan Region or its people, and that no punitive measures are being taken against regional public-sector employees because of the ongoing disputes.
