Mazloum Kobani, the General Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, stated:
“Currently, there is stability and calm in our region, but risks still exist and we remain cautious. Through everyone’s efforts, we managed to pass the phase of destruction in Rojava. Now we are moving toward a phase of stability, and we want our people to live in peace. We do not want war to break out again, and we aim to protect our people from conflict and devastation.”

In an interview with journalists Rahman Gharib and Mohammed Raouf in western Kurdistan (Rojava), Kobani discussed the situation in the region.

Parts of the conversation were published as follows:

A warm discussion with a calm and composed general—he welcomed the journalists kindly, saying he was happy to see them and acknowledged the strong support from southern Kurdistan. He noted: “Sulaymaniyah is like Kobani and Qamishli to me.”

Despite the current calm, he stressed that threats still remain in Rojava. He added:
“I will not take any official post. My work is among my people.”

Key points from Mazloum Kobani:

He expressed appreciation for the journalists’ visit and praised the role of people in southern Kurdistan during past attacks on Rojava.
He said he has no desire to move to Damascus or take a government post there, despite repeated offers, because his work among his people is not finished.
While stability exists now, risks remain, and they are staying alert.
They do not want war to return and aim to protect their people from destruction.
Kurdish areas in Rojava are a “red line” and will be defended without compromise.
They want self-administration in Rojava, preserving its unique identity without outside interference.
They seek proper representation for Kurds in Syria’s parliament and government.
Many challenges remain, and dialogue continues to secure Kurdish rights without compromise.
They want their forces integrated into Syria’s Ministry of Defense, though there are disagreements, especially regarding the inclusion of women’s forces.

Additional remarks during the meeting:

Avin Ibrahim announced that journalist Mohammed Raouf received the “Martyr Mazloum Bakok Award” for his role during the Rojava conflict.
Kobani congratulated him and praised his efforts in conveying Rojava’s voice to the world.
Idris Hanan mentioned signing a memorandum of understanding with Metro Center to strengthen cooperation in protecting journalists.
Kobani emphasized the importance of strengthening civil, media, and cultural ties between southern Kurdistan and Rojava.
